Reading in Proverbs today. Some words in Proverbs 6 were especially good:
Provers 6:20-23: "My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck. When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life"
How often do I meditate on God's Word? Here I'm told to bind God's Word in my heart, tie it around my neck, to be lead by it, to think about it in my sleep! To keep it, and to actually talk with it. It is a lamp to guide my way (Ps 119:105). How often do I actually do this? I've read through the Bible many times in the past but how often has it really effected me? How often do I just read the words so that I can boast that I've read through the Bible many times. Do I really think about the words? Do I let them go down deep into my heart? Do I listen when it talks to me? Lord, help me! I want your Word to down deep into my heart and I want it to guide me every moment of every day!
